The PowerElf server appliance does not have any per-user licensing. As student numbers grow and additional accounts are needed, there are no additional licenses fees required. The PowerElf's commercial-strength antivirus solution is very scalable: it will scan an unlimited amount of user accounts as well as an unlimited number of domains, so you can host multiple sites as well as provide email virus protection on all accounts and domains.
Ease of use.
The PowerElf appliance server is designed for users who are not trained to be network administrators. Features such our auto-update system and web-based management interface make the unit easy for anyone to maintain. The auto-update system keeps the unit up-to-date with new security updates. A server or firewall is only effective if the updates are current; with the PowerElf security appliance, the auto-update system is always running the latest security packages.
The auto-update service is free to all PowerElf II customers and provides peace of mind that their system is always running the latest software updates.
Content filtering - Filters all web sites coming into the network. It will block access to undesirable web sites, include pornographic, hate/discriminatory, violence and obscene sites. Can be customized by the administrator to remove any additional unwanted material from reaching students who are surfing the web. Administrator can prevent students from downloading executable software from the Internet (such as .exe or .vbs files). Filtering can be done by username or IP address.
WebMail - The PowerElf webmail service allows students and faculty to securely access their email from any Internet-enabled computer or handheld device.
No Licensing fees - There are no per-user licensing fees on the PowerElf server appliance. So go ahead, add more computers to your network; there are no additional fees. This includes VPN clients (for external off-campus faculty or students) as well.
Web hosting - The school can create and host it's own web site. The PowerElf appliance can also host virtual domains, allowing the school to host a variety of sites -- i.e. sports sites, community events sites, individual sites for extra curricular clubs and activities, etc..
AntiVirus – PowerElf Antivirus protects your server and all computers on the network, at the mail server level, increasing protection to your school.
Antispam - The PowerElf anti-spam features limits the effect that spam has on a mail system. The PowerElf anti-spam services will greatly reduce the amount of time wasted searching through your morning email.
