Network security may be your responsiblity, but it doesn't have to be hard. The PowerElf server appliance firewall and IDS combination provide instant security for computers and servers on your network. This is Unified Threat management at it's best.
Greencomputer's Auto-Defense™ firewall technology helps to reduce the number of DOS and hacks on your machines, because it can modify the firewall when it senses an attack. Hackers don't stand a chance against it.
Stateful packet filtering (SPF) firewall - Protects private data while giving your users full Internet access. NAT hides your internal network from the Internet, giving you additional protection from hackers. With SSH remote access, system administrators will be able to securely connect to their PowerElf firewall appliance without fear of hackers or snoops.
Smart Intrusion Detection - IDS (Intrusion Detection System) monitors all incoming traffic on the PowerElf security appliance, looking for suspicious or malicious traffic. If this type of traffic is detected it is logged, blocked and an alert message is sent to the administrator. The reports are viewable through the web manager interface. If any of the data matches the rulesets that is used by the IDS, then it creates an alert.
Active Response Blocking - Depending on the severity of the alert, it can trigger the active response system (if enabled by the administrator). The "active response services" will modify the firewall rules to disallow the intruder (based on the IP). The time that the IP is blocked will depend on how long the administrator has it set for. This is used to deter the hacker.
Firewall Blacklist - There is an administrator-controlled blacklist. The administrator can easily add or remove offending IP addresses (or entire blocks) via the web-based GUI.
Internet Gateway Router - The Powerelf gateway routing services allow you to share your cable, DSL or T1 connection with all the connected computers securely. This allows you to save the costs and reduce administrative work by centralizing Internet access. It provides top-level security to your network by utilizing features such as a firewall, IDS, and NAT.
Secure Remote Access - Businesses need a secure method of remotely connecting to the network. The PowerElf provides support for SSH, IPSec and PPTP VPN. Port Forwarding - Create a tunnel through the PowerElf firewall for access to a service running on a computer inside the network, such as a web server. This greatly increases security.
Auto Update system - Keep your PowerElf safe from security vulerabilities. Security updates are automatically downloaded and installed to your server without the need to worry about applying patches or other complicated software.
